Margaret K. Ridgley, 86, Alliance

Margaret K. Ridgley, 86, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

A life-long resident of Alliance, Margaret was born March 8, 1926, to Carl and Margaret (Weinel) Kohrman.

She grew up on the family farm North of Alliance, and after graduating in 1944 from Alliance High, she worked for the Alliance Creamery where she met her future husband, Earl Ridgley. They were married October 22, 1952 in Merna, Nebraska. After many years as a devoted homemaker and mother, she returned to work, joining the housekeeping department of St. Joseph's Hospital, and continued her role in the gerontology center.

An active person in the community, Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, active in the Panhandle Country Music Association and volunteered at Good Samaritan Health Care Center and for the Mission Store.

Margaret is survived by her son Dennis and his wife Shirley of Aurora, CO, and by 3 granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. The families include Sarah and Jerome Graves, their sons Ethan, Aaron and 1 expected child, Lauren and Jason Drury, and Claire Ridgley, all of Colorado. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Forsstrom of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her infant children, Diana and Gary, her sisters, Lillian Morgan, Rose Swanson and Dolly Kohrman; her brothers, John and Charles Kohrman.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Bates-Gould Chapel with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be given in Margaret's name to Good Samaritan Health Care Center, the Panhandle Country Music Association or the organization of their choice.
