Orlene Marie Cornell, 88, Gering
Orlene Marie Cornell, 88 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Regional West Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with Dr. Larry Spomer officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Ladies Quilters.
Orlene was born July 31, 1924 in Bruning, Nebraska to Theodore and Olga (Muehling) Philippi. She graduated from Bruning High School in 1942. She married Ronald Cornell on July 20, 1944 in Selma, Alabama. She worked as a lead lady at Jeck Plant 1954-1957, then Lockwoods 1960-1986 retiring in 1986. She also worked at the Country Club. Orlene was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church.
She loved birds and flowers.
Survivors include her daughter Francine Rogers (Orin Bolzer); son Rodger (Debra) Cornell; grandchildren Terry (Cindy) Rogers, Tom (Sharon) Rogers, Summer Cornell (Corey) Warner and Bambi (Eric) Barnett; great grandchildren Katelan Rogers, Kimberlee Rogers, Parker Warner, Chloe Rogers, Emma Rogers, Devan Barnett and Jaynesa Barnett; brother Louis Philippi and sister Helen Willet and nieces and nephews and her special dog Niki.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant granddaughter.
