Joseph David Salazar, 49, Torrington

Joseph David Salazar, 49, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place at a later date. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Rose Catholic Church with Reverend Father Ray Moss officiating. Joe was born on his mother's birthday, Aug. 18, 1963 in Trinidad, Colo. He started kindergarten in Denver and finished his elementary schooling in Yoder, Wyo. He continued his education at Goshen hole (Southeast) until his family moved to Northglenn, Colo. where he finished his last two years of high school. Right after graduating from Northglenn High School he went to work for his dad, Tom Gutierrez- the Dad he has known and loved since age three. In 1983 Joe married Tammy Romero and moved to Arvada, Colo. where he began working for Ball Metal Containers in Golden, Colo. and they started their family. In 1999 they move their family back to Wyoming to finish raising their two boys. Joe continued to work in Golden coming home every weekend until January 2007 when he began working for the Goshen County School District as a preventative maintenance technician.

Joe was a man with a big heart; always willing to help a friend or family member with anything at any time. He enjoyed time with family, especially that time with his two boys, fishing, hunting, and playing baseball. He was a man with many friends, hunting friends, fishing friends, work friends, neighbors, schoolmates, co-workers- everyone was a friend to Joe. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-nine years, Tammy Romero Salazar of Torrington; son, Gabriel David Salazar of Torrington; parents, Tom and Marie Gutierrez of Arvada, Colo.; brother, Nathaniel (Krista) Gutierrez of Denver; sister-in-law, Roxane Lira; brother-in-law, Chris (Erin) Romero; father and mother-in-law, Ruben and Marie Romero of Torrington; grandmother-in-law Virginia Romero of Torrington; as well as several nieces and nephews and other relatives; his God-children he treasured and were all very special to their "Nino," Koriko Ruiz of Thornton, Colo., Matthew and Maryssa Lira of Torrington, and Arianna Romero of Gillette, Wyo.Preceding him in death was his son, Michael Salazar; brother, Ernie Salazar; sister, Rosabell Salazar; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
