Myles gets new contract, Karen Johnson retiring
A new 3 year contract for Scottsbluff Superintendent Rick Myles has been approved by the Scottsbluff School Board. The Board approved the contract after an evaluation of Myles' performance, which Board President Bob Kinsey said had been exemplary, especially regarding work to improve the district's curriculum and to upgrade security and safety at the schools.
Another leader in the school district, Karen Johnson, has indicated she is retiring. Johnson is currently coordinating the district's pre-school program, but is best known for her work with the district's country schools as principal at Lake Minatare and Lake Alice. Johnson has been a great spokesperson for the smaller schools and coordinated the consolidation of the two country schools at Lake Minatare, where enrollment has increased significantly.
