Torrington motorcyclist recovering after laying down bike on river bridge
A Torrington motorcyclist is in good condition today (Monday) at Regional West Medical center after laying down his bike Friday in the southbound lanes of the Scottsbluff-Gering River bridge.
56-year-old Rodger Matthews of Torrington was traveling west on the South Beltline Highway attempting to turn south when he thought he was going to strike an eastbound pickup also turning south off the Beltline Highway driven by Sean Daugherty of Arizona. Scottsbluff Police say the vehicles never hit each other, but Mathews put his motoribike down, sustaining injuries to his knees and ribs.
No citations were issued. The accident happened around 3:30 p.m.
