Information meeting on 27th Construction set for July 2nd

An informational open house on the planned 27th Street construction that begins July 9th has been scheduled for July 2nd from 4 to 6 p.m. in the conference room of the Scottsbluff Lied Public Library.

Scottsbluff Public Works Director Mark Bohl says city staff, engineers and the contractor will be available to answer questions on the repaving of the street from Avenue I to Highway 26, which will also include installing handicap ramps and replacing the curb and sidewalk. Bohl says the project will be done under traffic and businesses will retain access.

Bohl says the project is not a "complete tear out of the street" so it will take a shorter time frame of 65 days. Bohl says they want everyone to understand that the curb, sidewalk and gutter work will take some time and be done during the day. But the actual repaving of the street over approximately eight days will be done overnight to keep interruptions to a minimum.

Bohl said the city had planned to repave Broadway late this summer, but that project has now been pushed back to next spring.
