Bridgeport Police conducting two-week special enforcement
The Bridgeport Police Department is beginning a two-week special enforcement as part of the nationwide "You Drink & Drive, You Lose" campaign.
The enforcement, which began today (Friday) runs through September 1st, and is being funded by a $1,500 overtime grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
Extra officers will be conducing high visibility traffic enforcement to deter impaired driving throughout Bridgeport. Officers will take a zero tolerance approach to drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The officers will be targeting the Main Street area, where the crosswalks are to prevent vehicle/pedestrian accidents during business hours, and all traffic-related offenses. Officers will also be alert or other traffic and safety violations throughout the city, and the Bridgeport State Recreation Area.
