Boeckner honored for service on council
The Scottsbluff City Council Monday evening accepted the resignation of councilman Dave Boeckner, and outlined the process to fill his seat on the council. Boeckner, who began serving on the council in 1997, was honored with a plaque recognizing his service to the city and the council.
Boeckner will be moving to Lincoln to join his wife, Dr. Linda Boeckner, who joined UNL's College of Education and Human Sciences and began her duties there on June 1st.
The council also outlined the process to replace Boeckner. They will take letters of intent from Scottsbluff residents who may be interested in filling the seat until September 27th. Interested parties will answer a survey of questions before the council votes on a candidate. Their goal is to fill the seat at their October 21st meeting with the new council member seated at the November 4th meeting. The appointed individual will then serve on the council until November 2014 unless elected to continue in the seat at that time.
