Bluffs Parks Dept. planning to apply for Comunity Center grant
The Scottsbluff Parks Department is planning to make a grant application for a multi-purpose, city owned community building. Parks director Perry Mader says there has been interest in such a building for some time now, and applying for the grant will just be the first step in a long process. Mader said such a building could serve a number of uses.
There has been talk about the condition of the current Senior building, and some of the needs of the Parks department. Mader believes it is kind of a natural match, so with the deadline approaching for the grant application process, he says it's time to take it a step further just to gauge the thoughts and feelings of people in the community.
Mader stressed they don't want to duplicate services, with respect to the YMCA or other private organizations in the community. He said it would be more of a community center with meeting rooms. Mader will address the City Council Monday seeking authorization to proceed with the grant application process.
