Ruzicka, Haney honored by Gering Convention & Visitors Bureau

The Gering Convention and Volunteer Bureau announced Wednesday that North Platte Valley Museum Board President Jodi Ruzicka and Farm and Ranch Museum curator Nancy Haney are the 2012 Community Volunteer Buddy Award Winners.

Karla Niedan-Streeks, the convention bureau's Executive Director, says the women are being recognized for their work in the process to bring the two museums together at one location.

Niedan-Streeks also noted the two women have been equally committed to Oregon Trail Days, the FARM and Ranch Harvest festival and the Fiber Fair Arts Fair.

The Gering Convention and Visitors Bureau Wednesday also announced their "Ask Me About Gering" program.... a pilot program that will launch June 11th in an effort to get front-line employees at service businesses and attractions to engage visitors in impromptu conversations about Gering. Niedan-Streeks says by providing a button to the employees that says "Ask me about Gering", the workers are asked to be knowledgeable about events and their personal preferences regarding Gering.

Neidan-Streeks was also awarded the key to the city by Mayor Ed Mayo for her thirteen years with the convention and visitors bureau and her constant promotion of Gering and western Nebraska.
