Sheriff's office awaiting report on forensic evaluation

The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office is awaiting a report on the results from a forensic evaluation on a German Shepard euthanized last weekend after it came home Saturday morning with serious cuts to its chest and legs.

The three year old male owned by Sharon and Chris Henderson appeared to have been skinned, leading the family and even the local attending vet to suspect the injuries may have been human caused.

Sheriff Mark Overman ordered the evaluation from a veterinarian pathologist at CSU in Fort Collins to get an opinion from "expert eyes" as to whether the injuries were human caused or possibly from an accident.

The owners suspect a neighbor may have been responsible for the dog's injuries, but Overman says the neighbors have no criminal record, there was no blood trail linking them to the injuries, and there is no indication the two families were feuding.

Overman says everyone the department has talked to has been cooperative with investigators.
