Lightning causes Saturday night power outage
A lightning caused power outage impacted residents of Mitchell, Morrill, and Henry for about an hour Saturday night.
Mitchell City Administrator Ty Abernethy says the lightning struck the Tri-State substation between Morrill and Mitchell that serves all three communities. Abernethy says crews from the Western Area Power Administration responded and made the repairs to get electricity back on. Police Chief Mike Cotant says the power was out from 8:15 to 9:20 p.m.
Abernethy says because the city's water tower is being refinished and it was empty, there was a brief water outage until service was restored.
