Gering man arrested for Sunday beer bottle assault

Scottsbluff Police have arrested a Gering man for the beer bottle assault of another man Sunday evening at Southeast Park. 31 year old Domingo Gomez, III has been charged with intentional second degree assault in the attack on 20 year old Pablo Longoria of Scottsbluff. If convicted Gomez could receive up to 50 years in prison.

Court documents say Longoria identified Gomez as the man who hit him on the right side of his face with a full beer bottle and then fled from the area on foot. Scottsbluff Police indicated Longoria had surgery after he suffered lacerations to his face that required 22 stitches. Longoria was sedated and intubated in the intensive care unit and was not able to give a statement to Police until Tuesday. Police Captain Brian Wasson says Longoria has since been released from the hospital and may need plastic or reconstructive surgery.

The court document says when Police responded to the park on Sunday night they found broken beer bottles, blood stains on the concrete near the picnic tables, and a bloody shirt. Investigator Joe Rohrer told KNEB News it appeared a large crowd dispersed quickly because cases of beer and food was left at the park.

Gomez is being held on $150,000 bond, with a 10% cash provision. his next court hearing is September 3rd.
