Birdie Ann Lopez, 83, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, February 05, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Phil Ransom officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 2pm til 7pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials in Birdie's honor may be made in care of the family to be designated at a later time. Online condolences may be left and memorial candles in Birdie's honor may be lit at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com. Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements.
Birdie was born August 28, 1929 in Gering to Floyd and Elva (Imus) Lackey. She married Joe Lopez on December 1, 1945 in Scottsbluff. Birdie loved her family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was known for her wonderful Mexican food. She enjoyed plants and flowers, and kept her garden as long as she could. A get together was never the same without her. She always enjoyed a good time, a good joke and good laughs.
She is survived by her daughters Carmen (Ed) Mayo of Gering and Glenda Magallanes of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Dave (Jen) Magallanes of CA, DeAnne (Nathan) Harvey of CO and Katherine (Marcus) Vasquez of Gering; step grandchildren Marisa Sarnowski of PA, Jennifer Leber of Lincoln, and Sarah Jacobsen of Aurora; great grandchildren Cole and Reid Harvey, and Natalie and Christopher Vasquez; step great grandchildren Donnovan, Jayna, Alonna, and Ian; brothers Tom and Ron Lackey; sisters Inez Steele and Mary Holten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband Joe, son Nicholas, brothers Roy and Jerry, and sisters Leota, Judy and Myrel, and son in law Alfred Magallanes preceded her in death.
