Helen Becking, 90, Scottsbluff

Helen Becking, 90, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at The Residency in Scottsbluff. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Rev. Ralph Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held from 1-7 p.m. Thursday, February 28 at Jolliffe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or to Prairie Haven Hospice.

Helen was born June 5, 1922 in Bayard, to Jacob and Amelia (Deines) Vogel. She grew up in Bridgeport. Helen married Albert Becking on December 8, 1940 at Bridgeport. In 1953 they moved to Scottsbluff where she worked at various jobs in her early life and then became a stay at home mom to raise her family.

Helen loved to play cards with family and friends. In October of 2011 she moved into Northfield Villa Vista where she acquired new friends and loved her new apartment. Visiting with the nurses, residents and playing bingo became the new adventure in her life. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her sons, Dewayne (Nancy) Becking of Powell, Wyoming and Robert Becking of Minatare; daughters, Benita (Robert) Schaffer of Bayard and Connie Booth of Torrington, Wyoming: brothers and sisters, Richard Vogel of Beatrice, Dorothy Eskam of Alliance, Ruth Schledewtiz of Gering, Robert Vogel of Alliance, Jurene Turpin of Twin Falls, Idaho, Howard Vogel of Gering, Delbert Vogel of Bayard, Elwood Vogel of Scottsbluff, Janice Henkel of Walnut Grove, California, Sandra Jines of Phoenix, Arizona and Betty Duncan of Bayard; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Betz of Gering, Esther Schanhols of Bayard, Emma Reider of Ft. Morgan, Colorado and Lydia Becking of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Mike (Paula) Becking of Via Frinza, California, Brady Uhrich of Gering, Tim (Liz) Becking of Sheridan, Wyoming, Dr. Scott (Wendy) Hessler of Severance, Colorado and Christina (Bryn) Tejral of Salina, Kansas; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alyssia, Kailee, Breanna Becking, Jacob and Logan Hessler and Courtney and Kaelyn Tejral.

Preceding Helen in death were her husband Albert; her parents; brothers, Leonard, Edward and Donald; infant sister, Benita; and son-in-law, Jack Booth.
