Maynard Ray Clarke, 81, Bayard

Maynard Ray Clarke, 81, of Bayard, died Monday, December 24, 2012 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff surrounded by family. His memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Bayard Church of Christ with Minister Bill Ferrero officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorials in Maynard's honor be made in care of the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be left at memorial candles may be lit in Maynard's memory at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Bridgeport is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on December 9, 1931 in Henry, NE to Ray and Bessie (Brown) Clarke. The youngest of 4 children Maynard graduated from Torrington High school. He married Pauline Lowry on October 5 1950 and to this union 4 children were born. He began employment at Baumgartner Motors as a mechanic, and then served 4 years in the Air Force serving time in Turkey and England. Upon returning to the states he went to work as a mechanic on airplanes at Land Air in Cheyenne, Wyo. He then embarked on the beginning of his career in insurance with Metropolitan Life for eight years then State Farm for 30 years. He then retired to spend time with his favorite pastime raising, riding, and trading horses.

Maynard is survived by his wife of 61 years, sons Richard (Virginia) of Bayard, Randy (Carol) of Bridgeport, Steve (Debbie) of Hyannis and daughter Bonnie (Doug) Long North Platte. Grandchildren Robert(Connie) Clarke, Nikki Clarke all of Omaha, Amanda Miller North Platte, Ashlee Arrants (Deaver) Gillette Wyoming, Brittani (Servando) Jimenez Bridgeport, Courtney Clarke Hyannis, and Cody Clarke Hyannis. He had 7 great grandchildren and another on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 granddaughter.
