Seiler named interim elementary principal at Bridgeport
When school starts next week in Bridgeport, the elementary principal will be starting his first full week on the job.
Superintendent Dave Miller said John Seiler of Scottsbluff was appointed as the interim principal at Monday night's board meeting, the second interim principal at the school in just three weeks.
Miller said that former principal Deb Turner resigned in July. Miller said she had an opportunity to work with a friend and mentor at a school in the eastern part of the state, so the district let her out of her contract. Turner had been with the school for just one year, replacing Kevin Myers as the elementary principal last year.
Miller said Myers agreed to return on an interim basis, and was named as the interim principal by the school board on July 23rd. However, Myers certification had expired, and therefore he was unable to act as the interim principal.
Seiler is a retired educator, who last served as the Special Education Director at Banner County schools. Miller said Seiler has extensive administrative experience as a principal and superintendent.
Miller said that because the resignation happened so late in the school year, they made a decision to hire an interim principal for this year. He said the school will advertise in January for a permanent replacement for next school year.
