Richard L. Bauer, 83, Bayard

Richard L. Bauer, 83, of Bayard passed away Sunday, November 4th at Heritage Estates in Gering. As per his request cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m.,Friday, November 9, 2012 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. The family requests that you join them after inurnment for food and fellowship at the Gering Civic Center.

A memorial has been established to The Festival of Hope.

Richard was born December 29, 1928 in Minatare to Katherine (Michael) Bauer and Henry Bauer. He attended schools in the Minatare area. Richard married Betty Kaufman in 1949 and they had three children.

Richard worked for Lockwood and B&C Steel before he started farming and feeding cattle.

After his divorce and shortly before he retired he met Anne Paris. Anne was a special person who cared for him while sharing their lives together. He enjoyed his retirement with Anne, family, fishing, visiting with friends, playing cards and casinos. Richard will be remembered for his great sense of humor, an ability to see the lighter side of life and a smile that would light up the room, these are just a few of his endearing qualities.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Karen Bauer and her daughter Nicole(Mike) Tessitore and their children Brandon and Casey all of Centreville, VA; his son, Rollie Bauer of Bayard and his daughter Jill (Chris) Fye and their daughter Kaitlyn of Bellevue, NE, son, Mason (Tandy) Bauer and their children Noah and Laurel of Minatare, NE and daughter Shelly Bauer of Boston, MA; sisters, Elnora Huber of Scottsbluff, NE, Alvina Lehl of Alliance, NE and Hermena Meyer of Portland, OR.

Preceding his in death are his parents; his son, Ronnie and 13 half, step and full brothers and sisters.
