Forecasters confident snow will occur this time
We've had a lot of busts in the last month with storms forecast that didn't materialize, so how confident are the weather experts that we are going to get at least a moderate snowfall out of the storm approaching the area?
Mark Heuer with Day Weather says they are as confident as they can be this storm will produce some of the needed moisture our area needs. Huer says the storm should provide three to six inches of snow for southeast Wyoming and western Nbraska, adding he would be disappointed if most areas don't get .25"to .40" of moisture.
Heur says the snow totals will be less if the storm moves and tracks 50 to 100 miles to our south.
Heuer says the time period for the most snow will be from 3 a.m. to mid afternoon Saturday, with the snow sticking to roadways making travel hazardous along with winds that will produce one to two foot drifts in open areas. Things will begin improving again late Sunday morning, but he says the pattern appears to be setting up for weather disturbances that could produce moisture every five to seven days.
