Sidney woman arraigned in assisted suicide case

A 53 year old Sidney woman charged with assisting suicide and concealing human skeletal remains in connection with the death of her husband was arraigned in Cheyenne County District Court Wednesday.

Court documents say Deann Kimble and her husband Russell were living in the Igloo storage units in rural Cheyenne County. The documents say Deann advised Russell had been very sick lately suffering from emphysema.

According to Deann's statements, on Saturday, she sat in their van and turned up the volume and listened to two songs and a commercial before re-entering the igloo. Deann says Russell had rolled himself into a shower curtain and positioned himself with a 20 guage shotgun prior to her going to the van.

The investigation says after returning and determining that Russell was deceased, Deann wrapped his body in the shower curtain and a gold sheet while binding his feet with clothes line rope. She then reportedly used a cargo strap to connect the rope around Russell's feet to the van and towed his body down the road and dumped the body where they dispose of waste.

The documents say she then covered his body with gravel, dirt and firewood. Cheyenne County Sheriff's deputies found the body in the location she described, with a single gunshot wound to the face.

Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub says a pretrial conference is scheduled for April 18th at 9:00 a.m. Also, a motion to reduce bond was denied.
