Austin Lee Scott, 76, Gering

Gering- Austin Lee Scott, 76 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.

Per his wishes, he was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Golden Living Center. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel & Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.

Austin was born on November 25, 1937 in Scottsbluff to Austin Edwin and Dorothy (Lee) Scott. He attended school in Mitchell, graduating from Mitchell High School in 1955. He attended Chadron State College.

On December 9, 1971 in Torrington, Wyoming he was united in marriage to Victoria Haney. He worked for Ace Adjustment as a sales representative in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Later moving to Las Vegas, NV and worked for 16 years at Quantum Collection Agency, retiring in 2009. They returned to Gering in 2009.

Austin was an avid poker player. He went on to play in the World Series of Poker in 1990 and 1991. He was also an avid sports fan, loved watching the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Scottsbluff and enjoyed playing cards there.

Survivors include his wife Viki Scott, son Chet Scott and daughter Hillary Scott; sister Jani (Steve) Scott of Greeley, Colorado; brother Richard (Liz) Scott of Lincoln, NE and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Jayne and Chester Haney; sister-in-law Rebecca Burdgess and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
