Wayne Leroy Tolstedt, 85, Alliance
Wayne Leroy Tolstedt, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his home.
Wayne was born October 20, 1927 in Platte, South Dakota to Arthur and Bertha (Gilchrist) Tolstedt. He grew up on a farm near Burke, South Dakota.
Wayne met his wife, Opal Olsen in Alliance, Nebraska and they were married October 23, 1949.
Most people knew Wayne because of his years of service delivering freight and managing freight for WNX and NTC. He retired in 1990. In retirement he enjoyed painting, stained glass, carving wood and caring for his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Tolstedt of Alliance; his two sons, Jerry (Krestie) Tolstedt and Dick Tolstedt all of Alliance; four grandchildren, Tony (Sara) Tolstedt of Douglas, Wyoming, Jenny (Scott) Przymus of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Samantha (Ahmed) Ajroud of Sidi Bou Siad, Tunisia, and Jordan Tolstedt of Alliance; and five great grandchildren, Rowen, Thayne, Neji, Bree and Ethan. He is also survived by his sister, Velma McCarthy of Burke, South Dakota; and brothers, Ron Tolstedt of Northville, Michigan and Lowell Tolstedt of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Don, Duane and Louie; and his sister, Vera McCarthy.
Memorial services will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John's United Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Stadem officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice or Kiddie Campus Preschool (Alliance Public Schools Foundation).
