Spooktacular on pace to double last year's attendance

The 24th annual Spooktacular has been a huge success for the Riverside Zoo, and it still has one more night to go. Executive Director Anne James says the first four nights, which even included a full moon, have simply been perfect.

James says Sunday was the big night with 1,200 people in attendance. But the other three nights have also been good with five to eight hundred people visiting the event. Without the loss of a night to weather, it appears attendance will double last year's 2,000.

James said the weather was so good Monday night, no one had coats on, which was not only good for volunteers but allowed the kids to go through without cumbersome coats. There is one more night, this evening from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Admission is $5 with children two and under free.
