Area trout stocking to begin
As the weather warms and days get longer, anglers get anxious for some early season fishing. Daryl Bauer with Game and Parks says they'll be stocking catchable size rainbow trout to help get the season off to a good start.
Bauer says they do the Spring catchable trout stocking in urban and parks waters in Nebraska. He says the same kinds of waters around the state that they stocked last year will be stocked with trout again this Spring.
And Bauer says they are cold water fish, so even with the cold water and ice just thawed off, you can still go out and catch some of those Springtime trout.
Game and Parks plans to stock the north and middle Morrill Sandpits, Scottsbluff Zoo Pond, and Terry's Pit on March 17th and Bridgeport State Recreation area northwest pit on March 18th.
Permits are required for everyone over 16, they're available at Outdoor Nebraska dot org.
