Dorothy Marie Summerville

Dorothy Marie Summerville went home to be with her savior on Monday morning, February 25, 2013. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Mitchell Berean Church on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Pastors Giles Armstrong and Scott Mathis officiating with graveside services following at Mitchell City Cemetery. Visitation will be at Jones Mortuary on Monday from noon to 7:00PM. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory be made to Mitchell Berean Church or to Maranatha Bible Camp. Dorothy was born on January 14, 1918 in Dawes County, Nebraska to James C. and Marie D. Blundell. She grew up in a loving and happy home and graduated from Hemingford High School. She accepted Christ as her Savior in March 1939 and has served Him faithfully all her life.

She was united in marriage to her beloved husband Carl on December 23, 1936. They lived in Mitchell their entire married life. She and Carl loved people, and their home was always open to their friends and family. Dorothy had a loving and caring heart. She loved children and was involved in teaching Sunday School and worked as a leader in AWANA. She was a member of Mitchell Berean Church. She was a faithful Prayer Warrior who was known to greet you with "I love you" and I am praying for you". She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her children who have always been her pride and joy: daughter Carol Spahn (who moved back to Mitchell from China to care for Dorothy) and her children Charis (and Gary) Buell of Westmont, IL, Lee (and Ali) Spahn of Osceola, NE, Lois (and Doug) Romaine of Stroudsburg, PA, and Jason of Burr Ridge, IL,, daughter and son-in-law Jane (and David) Jenkins of Littleton CO and their daughters Connie (and Monty) Johnson of Broken Arrow, OK, Christy (and Karl) Peterson of Centennial, CO and Cari Jenkins of Littleton, CO, son and daughter-in-law Jim (and Penny) Summerville and daughter Molly (and Chris) Huckabay and son Patrick all of Monroe, LA, and son and daughter-in-law Gene (and Cristina) Summerville of San Carlos, CA. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Carl and their first-born daughter, Shirley Kay, her brothers John, Charles, and James and her sisters Ayles and Christina., and by her son-in-law Melvin Spahn.
