Twin Cities men arrested for Alliance thefts

Two Twin Cities men were arrested by Alliance police this morning for stealing property from a number of unlocked vehicles. Alliance police say officers were responding to a citizen's report of suspicious men looking in vehicles near 8th Street and Mississippi Avenue when they made the arrests around five this (Tuesday) morning.

Police Lt. Ken Hart says 21-year-old Levi L. Hartman of Gering and 19-year-old Gage K. Soto of Scottsbluff remain in custody in the Box Butte County Jail and officers have recommended that the Box Butte County Attorney charge both of them with Theft by receiving stolen property. A charge of carrying a cConcealed wWeapon was also recommended Soto.

Hart says officers recovered a substantial amount of stolen property, but not all of the property owners have been located and identified. Police say if anyone is missing property from their vehicle, they should contact the Alliance Police Department to file a report and attempt to identify recovered property.

Hart adds that all of the vehicles entered were unlocked, so Police remind citizens to remove ignition keys and lock their vehicles to avoid being a victim of theft.
