2013 Nebraska Dry Edible Bean Day in Gering
The 2013 Nebraska Bean Day is this Tuesday, January 8th in Gering. Registration will begin at 9am with sessions beginning at 9:30.
Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association President Jeff Nichols says the meeting will return to the Gering Civic Center.
Bean Day will feature a variety of speakers including include University of Nebraska researchers and US Dry Bean Council Executive Director Jeanne Worton will also be presenting about federal legislation and the recently extended Farm Bill.
With the on-going drought situation, Nebraska State Climatologist Al Dutcher and Bureau of Reclamation Wyoming Area manager Coleman Smith will provide important outlook information.
The 2013 Bean Day will also feature the annual meeting of the Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association. Nichols says are a couple openings on the board for Districts three and four. District 3 covers the Southern Panhandle which includes Banner, Kimball, Morrill, Cheyenne, Garden, and Deuel Counties. District 4 covers all of the counties east of the panhandle.
The 2013 Bean Day will also feature a trade show featuring farm machinery, irrigation equipment and local processors. Registration and the trade show begin at 9 a.m., and the program begins at 9:30 a.m.
