Johanns: White House meeting needs to be catalyst for fiscal legislation

Senator Mike Johanns says a meeting he and other Republican members of Congress had Wednesday night with President Obama needs to be the catalyst for producing something substantial to address the nation's fiscal woes.

Johanns told reporters during his weekly conference call that the meeting was cordial and flushed out a lot of ideas, but has to eventually produce legislation to address the federal deficit.

Johanns says there was a discussion of virtually every issue related to the debt, but nothing specific was produced from the meeting. Johanns says "careening from crisis to crisis is untenable" and the President has to be more about the "follow-through" in future meetings with Congress.
