Scottsbluff man charged with fraud in obtaining pain killers

A 31 year old Scottsbluff man had a first appearance in Scotts Bluff County Court Friday after being arrested on charges of fraudulently obtaining prescription medications.

According to court documents, Kevin Haley misrepresented his identification in obtaining prescriptions for pain killers in August and September of 2012. Haley is alleged to have obtained prescriptions from Quick Care, Urgent Care and the Emergency Room at Regional West Medical Center under different name variations and birth dates.

The document says an employee at Safeway Pharmacy became suspicious and contacted authorities after Haley provided two different names and three different birth dates on three separate occasions.

Haley is charged with three counts of obtaining possession of a controlled substance by fraud, a class IV felony.

Haley has a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 11th at 3 p.m. Bond was set at 10% of 30,000.
