Cow Camp Fire 70 percent contained, nearly 8,500 acres
The Cow Camp Fire near Medicine Bow National Forest has scorched nearly 8,500 acres, but firefighters have made progress.
Officials said that fire lines help up Saturday night and Sunday morning, despite the passing of a cold front with extreme high winds. The fire is now 70 percent contained.
Windy conditions will continue Sunday, but temperatures will be 20 degrees cooler. Over 400 fire personnel are on scene, but those numbers will decrease dramatically Sunday and Monday as the team works on mopping up and patrolling the perimeter for hot spots.
Officials have said that one remote cabin has already been destroyed, and there are multiple road closures in the area.
