Irene E. Stricker, 85, Scottsbluff
Irene E. Stricker, 85, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Mitchell Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Zion Evangelical Church.
Irene was born Maria Elizabeth Trout November 11, 1927 in Minatare, NE to Henry and Anna (Eikler) Trout. She finished her schooling in Scottsbluff and went to work for Clayton Cleaners during the war. She married Henry J. Stricker in 1946. They farmed in the Haig and Sunflower areas for many years. In1970, they moved to Southern California where Irene worked in the dry cleaning business and managed a dry cleaners until 1979 when they returned to Gering and bought Nordstrom Cleaners and changed the name to Gering Dry Cleaners. They sold the business in1986.
She kept busy with rental properties, loved to sew, knit, and played a little golf. She loved her church and church family. She moved from her longtime home in Gering to Wel Life retirement assisted living in July 2008 and transferred to Mitchell Care Center in October of 2011.
Irene had four sons, she is survived by her eldest son Leonard (Vicki) Stricker of Peoria, AZ and her youngest son Art (Sharon) Stricker of Scottsbluff, NE, and 6 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers and 2 sons.
