Perkins wins Miss Flame crown
The 2013 Alliance Fire Department Miss Flame crown was won by Fire Dept. Lt. Jake Perkins Thursday night. A large crowd at the Alliance Performing Arts Center saw Richard Sanchez, a respiratory therapist at BBGH win the Miss Spark title, while Lance Yearling was crowned Miss Smoke.
There were 14 contestants.
Jake Perkins, who was the crowd favorite, was also awarded $500. Perkins is a repeat winner, as he also won the crown in 2010.
The program began with an inspirational demonstration of a firefighter rescuing a person from a burning building. When the firefighter took off his helmet and mask, it turned out to be BBGH CEO Dan Griess, who served as Master of Ceremonies.
The annual Miss Flame pageant serves as a fundraiser for the AVFD.
