Benjamin I Laub, 88, Gering

Benjamin I. Laub, 88 of Gering, NE went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Central Church of Christ in Gering. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery with military honors by the Nebraska Army National Guard. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. A memorial may be given to the church. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com.

He was born on July 7, 1924 to Samuel Laub and Fannie Laub in Vallejo, CA. Benjamin grew up in Vallejo and attended school there. After school, he joined the U.S. Army and became a medic. He fought in the European Theatre. After his honorable discharge, he met Bonnie Driscoll and were married on April 28, 1946 in Vallejo, CA and from this union they had two children: Stephen and Rhonda. They moved to southern California and he became a truck driver for Vons, then in northern California was a bus driver for the city then to Mare Island as a truck driver for 40 years. He retired to Nebraska. He transferred his membership to Central Church of Christ. Be became a Deacon of the church until ill health forced him to step down.

He leaves to mourn his passing wife Bonnie of 66 years, son Stephen Laub and daughter Rhonda (Robert) Gabel; grandchildren Hallie (Laub) Kent, CandiJo Gardner, Donald (Jodee) Gabel, Debra Gabel, Kenneth (Nancy) Gabel and Ethan (Randi) Gabel; great grandchildren Matthew, Bradley, Branden and Nicholas Gabel, Erika, Mikayla Gabel and Lizzie and Michael Mapes, Destinee Harden, Molly Gabel and Harly Ann Laub; brothers-in-law Von Richardson and Raymond (Bud) Driscoll; sister-in-aw Joyce (Carl) Petersen and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and grandson Dwaine Laub.
