A Lincoln development group who developed the downtown Gering property that became the Fresh Foods grocery store is part of a partnership that intends to build a hotel on the northeast corner of the same intersection.

Josh Berger with the Tetrad property group told KNEB News Friday they have signed a memorandum of understanding with Cobblestone Hotels to build a new hotel on the former McKee property at 10th and M Street owned by the city of Gering. Berger, Zack Wiegert, and David Scott are the principals in the Tetrad group, which was formerly known as the Scott/Woodbury group.

Berger says the partnership still has to work with the city of Gering on contracts and agreements, and there is no timetable at this time for construction or specifics on how big the hotel will be, the total cost or whether retail space will be part of the project.

But Berger says the group is excited about the partnership, likes Gering and is anxious to work with City Administrator Lane Danielzuk on another investment opportunity in the community.
