Upper Niobrara White NRD Names New GM

The Upper Niobrara White Natural Resources District is turning to a 25 year veteran of the water resources to be its new General Manager. Patrick O'Brien will succeed Lyndon Vogt, who leaves this week after 12 years to become general manager of the Central Platte Natural Resources District in Grand Island.

O'Brien is a 1988 UNL graduate and has spent most of his professional career with the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, serving the last 4 years as the agency's liaison with the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts. District Water resources manager Sheri Daniels says the NRD board of directors felt that O'Brien's experience of working with multiple federal, state and local agencies on natural resource concerns made him the right choice.

There will be a gap between Vogt leaving and O'Brien taking over July 8, but Daniels says the board felt the remaining staff could easily handle the general manager's duties in the interim.

The UNWNRD is holding an Open House/Going Away reception for Vogt Wednesday, May 15, from 2 to 4 MT at the NRD offices in Chadron.
