Interviews begin Monday for Gering superintendent finalists

The Gering school board will begin the interview process for their four superintendent finalists Monday night after adjourning their regular monthly meeting. The finalists are Travis Miller, Superintendent at Bayard; Robert Porter, Wallace Superintendent; Troy Unzicker, Kimball Superintendent; and Bob Hastings, Director of Teaching and Learning at Norfolk and a former Scottsbluff principal.

The school board will have personal interviews with the four individuals Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. A committee of district patrons and staff will interview the four at noon Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The Board will then meet Friday at 3 p.m. and enter into executive session to review the input.

Board President Mike Brunner said this past week the board wants the process to move quickly after the interview process. He says they hope to offer someone a tentative contract on Sunday, January 26th and then confirm that selection at the board meeting February 18th.
