At least a dozen people have applied for Gering Superintendent position
The director of the Superintendent search service for the Nebraska Association of School Boards says at least a dozen people have applied for the Gering schools superintendent position. The deadline for applicants to file was last Friday, but Marcia Herring says they are still receiving applications and hearing from recruits and she will have a better idea on the exact number of applicants at mid-week.
Herring says having a dozen people apply is normal for a position like the one opening in Gering after this school year with the resignation of Don Hague. She indicated those that have applied have been a combination of people from the immediate area and region and from neighboring states.
Herring had indicated previously she and three other consultants will aggressively screen applicants to "verify their knowledge and experience". The current timetable calls for the board to interview a minimum of four finalists the week of January 21st.
