Smith encouraged House taking vote on Farm Bill

Nebraska Third District Congressman Adrian Smith says he's encouraged that the House of Representatives will be taking a vote on a new Farm Bill after the election recess. Smith told KNEB News today it's important that the House pass their version of the Farm bill so the process can begin to work and a compromise with the Senate version can take place.

Smith says before he casts a vote for the bill he still wants to see the House pass amendments to the bill to limit spending on the nutrition title, which makes up 80% of the bill.

Smith says at the current pace the nutrition title will result in a trillion dollars in spending over the next ten years. Smith says both parties must take responsibility for trimming that down while still taking care of the people who truly cannot take of themselves.
