Helen Ruth Schwab, 88, Scottsbluff

Helen Ruth Schwab, 88, of Scottsbluff passed away on October 2, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Salem Congregational Church with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Internment will follow at Fair View Cemetery. Family is requested to gather at the church for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on October 10th.

Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel from 12- 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9 th. Memorials may be made to Salem Congregational Church, 2001 7th Avenue, Scottsbluff, Ne 69361.

She was born March 17, 1924 in Wellington, CO to Conrad and Katie (Greenwalt) Ditter. At an early age the family moved to Nebraska where she grew up in Gering and Mitchell. She met and married Dave Schwab in Scottsbluff on April 23, 1944. They farmed in the Gering Valley, later moving to Wheatland, Yoder, and Lingle Wyoming, and finally to Lyman, Nebraska where they retired from farming. While in Lingle, she cooked at the school cafeteria and she was known for her fine home cooking. Her children and grandchildren especially enjoyed her traditional German dishes. Returning to Scottsbluff for retirement she worked for the Scottsbluff Council on Aging where she was associated with the nutrition center at the Jaycee Senior Center on Broadway.

Survivors include daughters; Beverly (Dave) Danbom, Davine (Leon) Hughes, son; Mark (Angie) Schwab, and sister; Miriam Brown, grandchildren; Stephen Danbom, Michael (Carrie) Danbom, and Kelley, Matt, Aimee, and Hailey Schwab, step-grandchildren; Mark and Nick VanWinkle, Richard Mackin, and Chris Hanes, great-grandchildren; Peyton and Emily Danbom, and Keelyn Schwab; numerous nephews and nieces and other loved ones, including Nancy Schwab.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 56 years, Dave, her parents, her brothers; Harvey (Betty) Ditter, Harold (Nadine) Ditter, and siste; Irene (Alex) Kuhlman.
