Maryanne McCormick, 80, Scottsbluff
Maryanne McCormick, 80, of Scottsbluff passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.
A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2012 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Mathis officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Alliance Veteran's Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Festival of Hope.
Maryanne was born on July 8, 1932 in Morrill, Nebraska to Fred and Pauline (Bernhardt) Nicodemus. She received her early education in District "22" of Alliance, graduated from Alliance High School and attended college at Scottsbluff Junior College where she graduated with a teaching certificate.
Maryanne taught two years at a rural grade school in Sioux County and then one year at a rural grade school near Ellsworth, before she married Cranston McCormick on January 9, 1954 in Alliance, Nebraska. The couple made their home on various ranches in Western Nebraska.
Maryanne was a member of the Eagles. She loved to read and listen to traditional country music. She took great pride in growing flowers and huge gardens every year. Aside from being a homemaker she worked at various jobs over the years including Medwick Plant in Oshkosh, Regional West Hospital and she managed the Hunts Acres Community Center in Scottsbluff.
Maryanne is survived by her husband, Cranston; sons, Robert (Tara), Dana (Wendi), and Cameron (Katherine); grandchildren, Megan, Jessi, Maddi, Jacqui, Mallory, Hagen, Hunter, and Hadly; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Taden, Rigen and Carson; brothers, Sonny and Larry; sisters, Barbara and Kathi; and son-in-law, Dan Coffee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Donna Coffee.
Maryann was a wonderful cook and a very generous, giving person. She would do anything for her family and friends. She will be missed by many.
