Another area man arrested for Gering burglary
Another young area man has been arrested for for burglarizing a 10th Street Gering business and entering Gering Junior High last week. 18 year old Aaron Ott has been charged with burglary and first degree trespassing, the same charges filed again 18 year old Derek Smith last week.
Smith was arrested after Gering Police were told by a City Parks Department employee working with Smith that he had talked about entering the two buildings and trading a firearm in the Island and Huff law office for marijuana.
An arrest affidavit signed by Gering Police Detective James Jackson indicated Smith, Ott and another man talked about breaking into Gering Junior High with a couple friends to smoke marijuana. The custodian at the school later told Police it appeared entry was made on the east side of the building.
Police also talked to Bell Island at Island and Huff Law Firm and it appeared entry had been made through office windows and a desk drawer where a firearm was kept and a cash box had been disturbed.
The court documents indicated the young men planned to go back to the law firm and steal the firearm.
