Monument Marathon looking to build on success

The inaugural Platte Valley Companies Monument Marathon was such a big success in terms of participants, volunteer turnout, and community promotion that it appears a virtual lock to be an annual event. As the marathon was winding down Saturday, coordinator Dayle Wallien said it's an event that can grow and continue to showcase the North Platte Valley.

Approximately 400 participants and 200 volunteers participated in the event, along will all of those that cheered the runners on throughout the 13 and 26 mile courses.

It is not known at this time how much money was raised for the WNCC Foundation by the event.
