Alliance Band getting prepared for D.C. trip
104 members of the Alliance High School Marching band and roughly 75 sponsors will be departing for Washington, DC on Sunday and Monday.
Some will be traveling by charter bus while a majority will fly.
The band has made the trip every four year since 1988.
While the trip will include heavy sightseeing in both Washington, DC and later in New York City, the focal point is July 4, when the band marches in the Independence Day Parade on Constitution Avenue.
Director Dave Rischling says as far as sightseeing is concerned, the kids will hit the ground running on Tuesday, July 3.
And he says that following the July 4th parade, the band will visit Arlington National Cemetery and then enjoy fireworks on the mall.
The band began practicing for the trip in mid-June. It is scheduled to return to Alliance on July 7 and 8, and then march in the July 21 Heritage Days Parade.
