Alliance, Chadron attorneys submitted for vacant judgeship

The Judicial Nominating Commission Friday submitted Larry Miller of Alliance and Dawes County Public Defender Paul Wess of Chadron to Governor Heineman for consideration to fill the vacant county judgeship based in Alliance. The Governor will schedule interviews in the coming weeks and then make a final determination.

The commission held a public hearing at the Box Butte County Courthouse earlier in the day to take testimony from five attorneys who hope to succeed Judge Charles Plantz, who retired more than a year ago.

In addtion to Miller and Wess, the applicants were Stacy Nossaman-Petitt of Scottsbluff, Audrey Elliot of Gering, and Mark Raffety of Omaha.
