Irma Flores Palomo, 77, Gering

Irma Flores Palomo, 77 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Gerald Harr officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery. A memorial vigil service will be Friday, February 22, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be at Gering Memorial Chapel Friday from noon to 4:00 p.m.

Irma was born on June 10, 1935 in Harlingen, Texas to Santiago and Josefina Flores. Irma married Matilde E. Palomo on January 5, 1950 in Harlingen, Texas. They settled with their family in Gering in 1965.

Irma devoted her life as a mother and wife for 63 years. Irma's many loves were sewing, gardening, growing all flowers especially enjoying her roses, her thousands of pictures and especially enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irma was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering and an auxiliary member of the Virgen de San Juan. Irma also had devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Irma is survived by her 10 children: Matt (Aurora) of Gering, Jane Wadsley of Delevan, WI, Lupe Flores-Palomo of Edinburg, TX, Viviana (David) Deignan of Olney, MD, Bacilio (Karen) of Wayne, PA, Irma (Michael) Gutherless of Gering, Flora (Thomas) Murillo of Gering, Ruben (Donna) of Allen, TX, Veronica (Scott) Budelmann of Fayetteville, NY and Florencio Flores Palomo of Brooklyn, NY ; 27 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers Andres Flores and Noe Flores both of Harlingen, Texas and her special friends Dorothy and Stanley Stricker of Gering.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant sons and two infant daughters, two infant grandsons, two brothers, two sisters, one son-in-law and her parents.
