Gering man still critical after Friday accident

A Gering man remains in critical condition Monday morning from a two vehicle accident this past Friday afternoon. 36 year old Seth Thompson was injured in the accident at the intersection of two county roads about six miles southeast of Minatare.

The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office said that 20-year-old Michael A. Fiscus of rural Mitchell was driving a 2003 Dodge pickup westbound on County Road S . Authorities say that Fiscus failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 36 and struck a 2007 Ford pickup, which was northbound and driven by 30-year-old Dustin Beaudette of Scottsbluff.

Thompson was a front seat passenger in Beaudette's vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

Beaudette and a passenger in Fiscus' vehicle were transported to Regional West, where both were treated and released.

Fiscus was also transported to the hospital by a sheriff's deputy, but he refused treatment. Fiscus was then arrested and charged with driving under the influence, carrying a concealed weapon (.22 caliber pistol concealed in vehicle), willful reckless driving, and a stop sign violation.

The passenger in the Fiscus vehicle provided Deputies with a false name. He was later identified as 18-year-old Andrew Hackett. He left the hospital before Deputies discovered his real identity. There is an active Scotts Bluff County arrest warrant charging him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Scotts Bluff County Deputies are asking that he be charged with providing false information. Anyone with information regarding Andrew Hackett's whereabouts should contact the Scotts Bluff County Communications Center at 308-436-6666. Anyone seeking to remain anonymous can use the text a tip program at, or call Crimestoppers at 308-632-STOP.
