US Wheat Assoc. Connects with Middle East and Africa
US Wheat Associates continues to build relationships around the world. Recently (Dec. 5 - 8, 2012) US Wheat Associates Vice Chairman Dan Hughes of Venago, Nebraska was in Abu Dhabi at the International Organization of Operative Millers Conference and Expo. In a interview with KNEB/Rural Radio Network Hughes says the convention is designed for flour millers in Africa and the Middle East.
More than 50 countries were represented at the conference. Hughes says the one-on-one setting allows US Wheat Associates to work with foreign buyers on how the US can be price competitive.
After this year's widespread drought, Hughes says millers from Africa and the middle east are very concerned about America's poor wheat conditions.
The recent conference addressed the many challenges facing the milling industry including global food security and commodity market volatility.
The IAOM Conference & Expo is held annually, rotating between the Middle East and Africa region
