Motorcycle mental health ride to begin in Scottsbluff
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ A group of Nebraska motorcyclists is planning to cross the state to deliver hundreds of letters to the State Capitol to raise awareness about children's mental health.
Organizers say the ride was inspired by the ``Pony Express'' service that carried mail across the western United States in the mid-1800s. The letters have been written by youth, families, professionals and others about their experiences with children's mental health.
The ride will span nearly 900 miles over three days. The trip begins Wednesday with a kick-off celebration in Scottsbluff. Riders will visit towns throughout Nebraska, collecting letters as they go, and finish the journey in Lincoln on Saturday.
Most of the motorcyclists are volunteers from the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Nebraska.
