Harrisburg man sentenced in statutory rape case

A Harrisburg man convicted regarding the statutory rape of a 14 year old girl has been sentenced to four years intensive supervised probation. Scotts Bluff County District Court Judge Randy Lippstreu sentenced 20 year old Robert Cross Tuesday after he entered a plea in late April to a lesser charge of attempted first degree sexual assault. Cross, who served one day in jail, was ordered to spend nine more days in jail and take part in individual counseling.

Court documents indicate the victim told Police she was at Cross' Scottsbluff apartment last June when they began kissing. Police say when Cross wanted to undress the girl she said no but Cross persisted.

The victim told a school counselor late last year, and Cross was arrested January 4th following a Police interview.
