Dangerous drugs taken in pharmacy burglary
Scottsbluff Police say most of the drugs taken in the burglary of the Scottsbluff Pharmacy Saturday morning were opiates, including methadone. Captain Brian Wasson says the drugs are dangerous, and can lead to accidental overdoses, significant injury and death.
Wasson says the burglar did not ransack the pharmacy but knew where to go get the drugs he wanted. Police have recommended the business increase its security measures inside the pharmacy following the burglary.
Wasson says they have collected evidence they hope will help identify the burglar but are asking for help from the public in solving the crime. The police department has released two photographs of a suspect in a grey hooded sweatshirt with a dark colored ski mask and gloves. He also had a red bag with a black shoulder strap that he used to remove the drugs.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Scottsbluff Police Department at 632-7176 or Scotts Bluff County Crimestoppers at (308) 632-STOP (7867).
